We have had quite a year! and, it seems that I haven’t been updating my site here as much as I have. The two things that have changed it have been Facebook, since I can easily update and write updates there, and the iPhone which has mobile uploads of the photos to Facebook. Do you have facebook? then go view me over there One of the big events this year was getting our Heating/Cooling system in place. We had to replace the old units, and we decided to replace them with Geothermal heating/cooling. Go see all the photos at Flickr Geothermal. The winter months have definitely seen a savings compared to last year, differences in total gas + electric bill costs for the last 3 months. -$24.63, -$54.95, -$189.65. Looking forward to seeing what the entire winter season comes to with our new heating.

Thanks for everyone who came to the wedding. We really appreciated all your love and support. We both had a great time, and I really just was so happy to have my friends and family. Kate and I went over to make cookies at my Aunt’s house. All of my mom’s sisters were there making cookies! They make a ton of cookies, and it is a lot of work.

Kate and I went to my parents house for Thanksgiving. It was great fun, great food, and we got to play Settlers of Catan with my sister and niece and nephew.

Kate’s parent came to town this past week to visit for a couple of days. It was great having them here, and I’m thankful they were able to stop on their way through back to Rhode Island. Here we are at dinner at an Italian restaurant. Yum yum!

Well, the time has come to move to Tennessee. Yes, I am headed south. It is wonderful that Kate is also coming with me down there. Why you ask? It just seems like the perfect time, and the perfect thing to do. Being near all my family, being in warmer weather, getting a good change of pace of life. Getting to begin to create a life with Kate. Plus, it will really be an adventure.

Our POD arrived, and we packed it up. all our stuff is now in it, and will be transported to Tennessee. We are looking forward to the adventure and all that life will bring.

Today, a bunch of the folks in our neighborhood got together to clean up the fence along our streets. We raked, and clipped, and stuffed limbs, twigs, leaves, bushes into bags. Lots of sweeping went on. The best part, was that I got to meet a bunch of the people in my neighborhood that I hadn’t met yet. And, one of things I want is a closer community feeling at home. I’m glad I went.

I flew out to California to hang out with a group of my MIT friends. We all get together on Labor Day in some part of the country to play games. We play all kinds of card games, board games, and even some games that people have made up.

I’ve been at my parents house the last week, as I’m down here in Tennessee to teach for 2 weeks at Young Scholars. This is the view from my parents’ deck. I love sitting out there and reading, or just enjoying the nice weather.
